Last week I gave an online seminar as part of the Scientific Diving course offered at the San Ignacio del Huinay Research Station in Chile, in collaboration with the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso and the World Underwater Federation (CMAS). My focus was on the needs, challenges and opportunities to move forward into incorporating formal scientific diving training at universities and research centers in the region given the relevance of the tool in current research practices. Congrats to all future scientific divers of this class and to her instructor CSDI Mery Perla Salazar, much success!
